How to connect to ChannelEngine
Introduction
ChannelEngine is a cloud-based marketplace integration and management platform. It sits between your own back-end systems, such as an ERP, OMS, PIM, WMS, webstore, or ecommerce platform, and the marketplaces you sell on (channels).
Acting as middleware, ChannelEngine keeps data in sync in both directions. Marketplaces receive the correct product, price, stock, and fulfillment data, and you receive marketplace orders, cancelations, returns, and other operational data in one central place.
Instead of building and maintaining a separate integration for every marketplace, you connect your systems to ChannelEngine once and use that connection to sell across multiple channels. To learn more about the data ChannelEngine moves and the role it plays, see ChannelEngine: how ChannelEngine works.
What ChannelEngine does
ChannelEngine does four main things:
- Connects your back-end systems to marketplaces. Connect your OMS, WMS, ERP, PIM, webstore, or ecommerce platform to ChannelEngine, then connect ChannelEngine to your marketplaces. Product data, orders, shipments, cancelations, and returns synchronize between all systems.
- Centralizes marketplace operations. Manage product listings, inventory, pricing, orders, returns, and finance and statistics from a single platform, rather than managing each marketplace separately.
- Automates data synchronization across channels. ChannelEngine keeps product, stock, price, and order data aligned across marketplaces on a schedule, which reduces manual work and the risk of inconsistencies such as overselling.
- Automates repetitive tasks with AI assistance. Built-in AI helps with categorization, attribute and option mapping, content enrichment, and repricing, so you spend less time on manual setup. See AI-assisted features.
What you can manage on ChannelEngine
From a single platform, you can centrally manage the key marketplace processes listed below.
- Product listings. Publish and maintain product content on each marketplace. Easily map and enrich your internal product records to meet the attributes, formats, categories, and validation rules that each channel requires.
- Inventory synchronization. Keep stock levels aligned across channels. Set stock buffers and limits to reduce the risk of overselling, and route orders to the right warehouse of your own or on the marketplace side.
- Pricing management. Maintain marketplace pricing from one place, configure discounts and use the repricing engine to automatically adjust your prices based on competitor prices.
- Order management. Receive marketplace orders, sync them to your systems for fulfillment, and send shipment updates back to the channel.
- Return and cancelation management. Receive and process returns and cancelations between marketplaces and your systems. Both can flow in either direction, whether the buyer starts them on the marketplace or directly with you.
- Statistics and finance. Review sales and financial statistics across channels from one place. Benefit from additional insights, such as actionable data, including revenue, sales, orders, product performance, and overall growth metrics.
How to connect to ChannelEngine
You connect your system to ChannelEngine once, using one of three methods or combination of them that fits your setup:
- Merchant plugin. A ready-made or custom connection to systems such as webstores, ERPs, OMSs, WMSs, and PIMs.
- Merchant API. Your system or middleware calls ChannelEngine directly and controls when data is sent or fetched.
- Product feed. A file with your product catalog that ChannelEngine imports on a schedule.
Once you are connected, ChannelEngine runs scheduled synchronization tasks to keep your systems and each channel up to date.
AI-assisted features
ChannelEngine includes AI features that speed up setup and reduce manual, error-prone work. You stay in control and can review recommendations before they go live.
- AI category mapping. Recommends the most relevant marketplace category for each product, which you accept or decline individually or in bulk.
- AI option mapping. Maps your attribute values to a marketplace's predefined values automatically, which helps prevent the export errors that misaligned options cause.
- AI attribute builder. Generates titles, descriptions, and channel-specific attributes from your existing data or from a plain-language prompt.
- AI image builder. Combine the images of your bundled products into one or more images and generate backgrounds to better showcase them.
Why use ChannelEngine
By automating marketplace integrations and synchronizing data across channels, ChannelEngine helps you:
- Expand to new marketplaces and countries faster, without building an integration per channel.
- Reduce manual work and operational complexity.
- Maintain consistent product, stock, pricing, and order data across marketplaces.
- Leverage built-in channel validation rules and platform support.
