Introduction
You can use AI category mapping to save time by automatically categorizing your products. The AI analyzes your product category, title, and description to recommend the most appropriate marketplace category. You can accept the top recommendation, review other recommendations, or manually select the category from the category tree.
AI category mapping is currently available on the following channels:
- Amazon CA
- Amazon UK
- Amazon.com
- Amazon DE
- Amazon ES
- Amazon FR
- Amazon IT
- Amazon NL
- Amazon PL
- Amazon SE
- bol BE
- bol NL
- Carrefour FR
- Cdiscount
- Decathlon
- Douglas DE
- Kaufland DE
- Trendyol AE
- Walmart
Prerequisites
To use AI category mapping, first make sure:
- Your product feed or the system you use to upload product information to ChannelEngine (such as a webstore or PIM) has product categories assigned to the products.
- You have created a valid product selection on ChannelEngine.
Setup
- Go to the Categorization page of the channel.
- Open the Product to category tab. This tab displays your categories, the number of products in each, and a progress bar for category mapping.
- If AI category mapping recommendations are unavailable for the channel, click Request to configure. This sends an email to ChannelEngine to enable AI recommendations for your tenant and channel.
- When AI recommendations are available, the Generate recommendations button appears. Click it to generate category recommendations – for all categories or only the selected ones. The process may take up to 10 minutes.
- Once generated, a magic wand icon appears next to the products with recommended categories.
- Click a certain category to see the products and the generated category recommendations. In the window that opens, you can accept or reject the recommended category for each product individually, or all products at once. The Current category column updates when you save the recommended category. To filter products based on whether there are any recommendations available for them, use the Recommendations available toggle under Filters.
- If the recommendation is not a good match, you can either:
- Click AI recommendations to view all category recommendations for the selected product, and choose the most appropriate one. Note that each category has a matching score assigned to it.
- Click Browse to manually select a category from the category tree. If you manually select a category, be aware that clicking the Accept icon, and then Yes on the popup that appears, overwrites your manual selection with the AI recommendation. If you do not want this, make sure you proceed directly to to steps 8 and 9 after you complete your manual selections.
- Click AI recommendations to view all category recommendations for the selected product, and choose the most appropriate one. Note that each category has a matching score assigned to it.
- To copy a category path, click the Copy button by it.
- Once you are done mapping your categories, click Save. The progress bar should show the updated number of products with mapped categories.
FAQs
Can I accept AI recommendations for individual products?
Yes, you can accept AI recommendations for individual products. To do so, navigate to the product's category and manually accept the AI-generated recommendations for specific products. Make sure you have reviewed the recommendations carefully before accepting them. If a recommendation is not a good match, you can manually pick a different one from the category tree.
Why are my AI recommendations not saved or exported?
AI recommendations are saved and exported only after you accept and save them.
If you previously mapped categories on the One-to-one tab – either manually or using rules – generating AI recommendations on the Product to category tab does not override these existing mappings per se. To update your category mappings:
- Accept the AI-generated recommendations.
- Save your changes.
