Introduction
Certain marketplaces that use the Mirakl framework offer support for one or more sales channels. On ChannelEngine, you can use one account for all sales channels, with the option to map different prices and enforce specific sales tax/VAT rates for different sales channels.
How to set up Mirakl sales channels
On Mirakl
To access specific sales channels within a marketplace, you must first request this directly with the marketplace. If there is an agreement, they can then enable additional sales channels from their end.
Once that agreement is made, go to My account, Settings on the marketplace's Mirakl backend and click the Channels tab. By default, no manual action is required – but you can check if the requested sales channels have been enabled or not.
On ChannelEngine
Add the channel
When a Mirakl marketplace supports selling on multiple sales channels, you typically only need to add that channel one time to your ChannelEngine dashboard. From there, you are able to map sales channel-specific content and price attributes.
Other Mirakl marketplaces provide you with different shop IDs per sales channel on which you sell. In this scenario, add a separate channel to your ChannelEngine dashboard per country shop ID. Then, map your sales channel-specific attributes within each separate channel plugin.
Setup
For Mirakl channels that support multiple sales channels (countries), you can enforce a default country-specific VAT rate on your exported Price attribute.
Note that this setting only applies if you use the Add commission and VAT price rule.
- Open the given Mirakl channel on ChannelEngine.
- Go to Setup, Advanced settings.
- In Default selling country, select a country from the dropdown. This is the country whose VAT rate will be used in case you use the Add commission and VAT price rule.
- Once selected, ChannelEngine enforces the sales tax/VAT rate of the selected country on your exported Price attribute.
If you do not select a default country, ChannelEngine enforces your tenant's default sales tax/VAT rate on your exported Price. The default sales tax/VAT rate is configured at Settings, Orders, Default VAT rate.
Mappings
Sales channel-specific attributes on the Mirakl marketplace are displayed in the Mappings step (i.e.: Content mappings and Offer mappings), usually in the form of country-specific attributes. E.g.: Name DE, Description FR, Strike price PL. On some marketplaces, the attribute name does not explicitly show the country code, but the country designation appears in the tooltip. Which sales channel-specific attributes are available to map in Mappings depends on each marketplace. Check the related marketplace guide to learn sales channel-specific attributes.
Pricing
If you use pricing v2, you map the main selling price attributes per sales channel (if available) in the Pricing step.
Best practices
- If sales channel-specific price attributes are left empty, they are replaced automatically with the default value. E.g.: if you have the French sales channel active but fail to map Price FR, the value of the default Price attribute is exported. The same applies to discount-related attributes. The default Discount price, Discount start/end date are used if sales channel-specific discount attributes are not provided.
- If the currency or VAT of one or more sales channels differs from your main currency or VAT and you fail to map the country-specific price attributes, you may end up with prices that are either too high or too low for that sales channel. If the country-specific price attributes are available to map, aim to always map those.
How to remove products from sales channels
It is not possible to select which products are exported to each sales channel unless you set up a separate channel on your dashboard per sales channel, i.e. each with a different shop ID. All products in your product selection are made available to all connected sales channels, if those sales channels are connected to the same shop ID, i.e. are mapped within the same channel plugin on ChannelEngine.
There are two exceptions to this rule:
- Decathlon - you need to select one or more sales channels per product via the offer attribute Active channels. Products without one or more active channels are not exported. For more information on this, check out the Mappings section of the Decathlon: marketplace guide.
- H&M - you need to map the RRP (recommended retail price) [country] attribute. Products without a RRP are not accepted by Mirakl. For guidance on H&M's requirements, check out the Mappings section of the H&M: marketplace guide.
For all other Mirakl-based marketplaces, the only option to remove products from a specific sales channel is to create a separate store in the Mirakl backend, with its own sales channel access. In that case, you will need to add a separate instance of the channel plugin for each store on your ChannelEngine dashboard.
FAQs
Can I set a different stock level for each Mirakl sales channel?
In the Mirakl framework, you can only set a stock level per product, not per sales channel, which results in the same stock levels across all of your sales channels. To work around this limitation, you can set up separate accounts on Mirakl for each sales channel. This setup allows you to configure country-specific channels on ChannelEngine and maintain different stock levels for each country.
Can I set a different price for each Mirakl sales channel?
Yes, you can configure a different price per sales channel by using country-specific attributes in Offer mappings, Pricing, e.g.: Price FR, Price DE, or by adding a completely different instance of the channel to your ChannelEngine dashboard. To learn more about mapping price attributes on Mirakl sales channels, check out the section How to set up Mirakl sales channels, On ChannelEngine above.
