Introduction
You can use promotions on ChannelEngine to set up a promotion for a specific time period. To set up permanent price reductions, use ChannelEngine's price rules.
Prerequisites
If you currently use pricing v1, you must activate pricing v2 before proceeding.
- Reach out to your ChannelEngine contact to activate Product pricing v2 setting.
- Once activated, go to the Setup page of the channel and locate the New beta pricing setting. The options are:
- Fully activated - adds the new pricing tabs and removes the pricing v1 tabs. This option is recommended for a go-live with the feature.
- Only screens for configuration - adds the new pricing tabs while keeping the pricing v1 tabs. This option is recommended for migration as it allows you to compare the old and new pricing setups.
- Off - pricing v2 is disabled.
Promotions
There are two promotions types on ChannelEngine:
- Marketplace promotions - promotions created by the marketplace.
- Merchant promotions - promotions created by the merchant. To get hands-on experience with creating promotions, check out the microlearning ChannelEngine: merchant promotions.
To view your promotions, go to Pricing and select the Promotions tab. You can search for a specific promotion by entering its name in the search bar. You can also filter promotions by their status.
The promotions table has several columns.
- Promotion name - the name of the promotion.
- Campaign name - the name of the promotion campaign initiated by the marketplace. This field is empty for merchant promotions.
- Start/end date - the start and end date of the promotion.
-
Status - the current status of the promotion. Options are:
- Ongoing - currently active.
- Scheduled - planned for the future.
- Expired - no longer active.
- Actions - action to be performed on the promotion. You can edit, pause, or duplicate a promotion.
Creating a promotion
- On the Promotions tab, click Create promotion.
- Provide a suitable name for the promotion. E.g.: summer sale 2024.
- The marketplace the promotion applies to is filled out automatically.
- Set the start and end date of the promotion. Select the desired timezone. Alternatively, select Detect to have ChannelEngine automatically identify and set your timezone.
- Select the products to be included in the promotion. Options are:
- Manually enter the product’s name, GTIN, or Merchant product number in the search bar.
- Paste a list of product SKUs and select the appropriate delimiter. E.g.: comma.
- Upload a list of product SKUs from the CSV file. The format is as follows:
“SKU”;”Price”
“37838475445”;”99.95”
“37838484353”;”69.95”
- If a marketplace has more than one price attribute, such as B2B price and B2C price, select the products per attribute.
- Set the promotion price for each product.
- To stop a promotion before the end date, click the stop icon.
The promotion price overrides repricer and any price rules, but it does not go below the product’s minimum price, set on the Price rules tab. If you want the promotion price to go below the minimum price:
- Go to Mappings, Offer mappings.
- Find the Allow promotion below Min. price attribute.
- Set its value to ‘true’ to allow the promotion price to go below the minimum price.
Marketplace promotions
ChannelEngine supports promotions initiated by bol. The default fields for such a promotion (Name, Start/End date, etc.) are already populated by ChannelEngine, based on the data retrieved from the marketplace.
The products eligible for the promotion are automatically grouped in the promotion overview.
To join a marketplace-led promotion:
- On the Promotions page, click the pencil icon to edit the promotion.
- Under Set price, enter your desired promotion price next to the products to be included in the promotion.
- Keep in mind that bol defines the Max. promotion price, which you cannot exceed.
- Click Save.
Once the marketplace promotion is set, your products on bol are displayed with a hoge korting (high discount) label.
FAQs
What happens if my promotion price is lower than my minimum price?
If your promotion price is lower than your minimum price, ChannelEngine checks if the Promotions below min price setting is enabled in the Offer mappings for that product. If it is not enabled, the minimum price is exported instead.
Is it possible to set multiple promotions for the same product?
You can create different promotions for the same product, but the promotion dates must not overlap. If the dates overlap, you cannot set multiple promotions.
