ChannelEngine: Product performance tab (statistics)
About this article
This article describes the Product performance tab of the Statistics module and how to use it to track your sales and stock metrics per product.
Table of contents
Introduction
The Product performance tab of the Statistics module shows sales and stock metrics for each product in your catalog over varying periods. Use it to view your best-selling products, monitor how much surplus each product generates, and check whether your current stock covers your recent sales rate.
Requirements
Before you can access the Statistics page, make sure the following requirements are met:
- Pricing v2 is required to use the surplus calculation. If you currently use pricing v1, activate pricing v2 before you continue:
- In the Pricing step of a channel, click Get started to start configuring pricing v2. Pricing v1 stays active, so you can set up pricing v2 side by side.
- To check the accuracy of your pricing v2 setup, refer to the ChannelEngine: pricing v2 migration guide and complete every step in the activation checklist.
- When you are ready to fully switch to pricing v2, choose one the following options:
- Click Request support activation and submit a request. Our Support team will verify your pricing v2 configuration before activating it.
- Click Activate pricing v2 (self-service) and activate pricing v2 yourself on the selected channel. Pricing v1 will be removed, and pricing v2 will take over immediately.
Product performance table
The table lists your products with their current stock position and their sales results for varying periods, e.g.: the last 7 days. Products are sorted by revenue, from highest to lowest.
Product columns:
- Image - a thumbnail preview of the product.
- Details - the product name and its unique identifying tags, such as its Merchant product number and GTIN.
Stock columns:
- Current stock - the number of units currently in stock for that product.
- SiW (stock in weeks) - how many weeks your current stock covers at your sales rate of the defined period. E.g.: for the period of last 7 days stock in weeks is calculated as follows: [Current stock] ÷ [Last 7 days qty]. E.g.: if your current stock is 8 units and you sold 2 units in the last 7 days, the SiW is 4. This means your stock lasts about four more weeks if sales stay the same. A low SiW signals a product that is about to run out. If a product had no sales in the last 7 days, the SiW is 0, even if the product still has stock.
Performance columns:
- Qty - the total number of units ordered for that product during the period.
- Revenue - the revenue generated by that product during the period.
- Surplus - the surplus earned on that product during the period. The surplus is the revenue earned by selling a product above its minimum price. Calculated as: Surplus = (Selling price - Min. price) × Quantity sold.
- Avg surplus - the average surplus earned per unit sold during the period. Calculated as: Avg surplus = Surplus ÷ Quantity sold.
Tip: compare the last 7 days against the last 28 days to see whether a product is speeding up or slowing down.
Filters
At the top of the Product performance tab, use the search bar and filters to narrow down the data.
Search
Use the search bar to look up products by:
- Full identifier - enter the exact GTIN, or Merchant product number to find a specific product. To find multiple products at once, separate the identifiers by spaces. E.g.: 76946 76947 76948.
- Partial identifier or name - enter part of the GTIN or Merchant product number, or a single word from the product name. E.g.: searching for 2 returns all products with 2 in the identifier.
- Phrase in the name - enter multiple words from the product name in double quotation marks (" "). E.g.: searching for "purple pants" returns all products that include the phrase purple pants in their names. Without quoting, a multisearch will be performed on each word, giving results for purple and pants.
Catalog filters
The available filters are:
- Brand - filters results by a specific brand or manufacturer.
- Filter by channel - filters metrics by a specific channel.
- Stock location - filters metrics by a specific stock location. E.g.: magazijn NL.
- Clear filters - resets your active filters.
Metric filters
Use the Last 7 days qty and SiW filters to narrow the table down to products that match a set condition.
- In the Select an operation dropdown, select the operator to apply:
- Equal to
- Not equal to
- Greater than
- Less than
- Greater than or equal to
- Less than or equal to
- In the field next to the dropdown, enter the value to compare against.
The metrics you can filter on are:
- Last 7 days qty - the number of product units ordered in the last 7 days.
- SiW (stock in weeks) - how many weeks your current stock covers, based on your sales in the last 7 days.
To clear a filter, set its dropdown back to Select an operation, or click Clear filters to reset all active filters.
Examples
Example 1
Set SiW to Less than '1' and Last 7 days qty to Greater than '3' to list products that sold more than 3 units last week but have less than one week of stock left. Use the result to decide which products to restock first.
Example 2
Set SiW to Equal to 0 to list products that did not sell at all in the last seven days.
Toggle columns
To choose which columns you need, click the table icon () in the top right corner and use the toggles to hide or show individual columns.
To show or hide every column at once, use the All toggle at the top of the list.
Export statistics
Export your product performance statistics as a CSV file. ChannelEngine sends a download link to your login email address.
- Click Export.
- In the Export selection popup, select a format:
- CSV - for most spreadsheet and BI tools.
- CSV for Excel - encoded for Microsoft Excel.
- Select the delimiter that separates the columns in the file: comma (,) or semicolon (;).
- Click Export.
- The download link is sent to your email address and expires after 14 days.
The export includes the rows that match your active search and filters, so apply your SiW and Last 7 days qty filters first to export a shortlist instead of your full catalog.
FAQs
How frequently is the statistics on this tab updated?
ChannelEngine aggregates and sums order line data once per hour, updating the statistics.
Why is the surplus 0 for some products?
The surplus is calculated against the minimum price of a product. If no minimum price is set, or if the product is sold at its minimum price, the surplus is 0. Surplus also requires pricing v2 to be activated on your channels.
Can I change the time periods in this tab?
Yes. You can choose the time period in the Toggle columns. Click the table icon () in the top right corner and use the toggles to hide or show individual columns.
Why is the SiW 0 for a product that still has stock?
SiW is based on your sales in the last 7 days. If a product did not sell in that period, there is no sales rate to project the stock against, so the SiW is 0. To list these products, set the SiW filter to Equal to 0.
