Include fees in the selling price
Introduction
Marketplace fee groups are sets of products that share the same commission percentage when sold on a marketplace. These fees do not always align with product categories. Instead, they are based on the commission rates that the marketplace charges for different types of products.
ChannelEngine enables you to assign the relevant fee to your products to create fee groups.
Fees are automatically provided to ChannelEngine from select marketplaces. When fees are not automatically provided by the marketplace, you can choose to define a default fixed or percentage fee or other custom fee rates for your products.
To manage marketplace fees, go to Pricing, Marketplace fees on a given channel. To specifically manage default fees, go to Setup, Default fee on a given channel.
Requirements
Pricing v2 is required to use this feature. Pricing v1 will be deprecated soon. If you currently use pricing v1, activate pricing v2 before you continue:
- In the Pricing step of a given channel, click Configuration mode to start configuring pricing v2 while pricing v1 stays active.
- When you are ready to fully switch to pricing v2, reach out to the Support team to activate pricing v2 on the respective channel(s).
Fee group mappings
To assign your products to a specific fee group (marketplace or custom), map the products to a fee group ID.
You can map the fee group of a given product in either: Mappings, Fee group mappings or Pricing, Marketplace fees. Both options save the values to the same place.
To map the fee group ID in Pricing:
- Go to Pricing, Marketplace fees.
- On the upper right of the tab, click Fee group mappings.
- The Fee groups attribute is nested in one of the sub-sections, usually Optional. Expand this sub-section.
To map the fee group ID in Mappings:
- Go to Mappings, Fee group mappings.
- Locate the Fee groups attribute.
Map the Fee groups attribute to the corresponding ID via one of the following mapping options:
- Advanced rule
- Fixed value
- ChannelEngine fields
- Custom fields
For details on the available filters in Fee group mappings, check out ChannelEngine: content mappings.
Default fee
Define a default fee for products that are not mapped to the marketplace's fee structure or another custom fee that you have defined, e.g.: if a fee is not automatically retrieved from the marketplace or if you have not manually assigned a product to a fee group.
In the Default fee section, define:
- Default fixed fee - the default fixed commission applied to products.
- Default percentage - the default percentage commission applied to the products.
You can also define Default fee in the Setup step of the given channel.
Custom fee groups
Create your own fee structure if ChannelEngine has not automatically imported the marketplace's fee structure, or if the fixed flat or percentage fee structure does not apply to all of your products on the channel.
The Custom fee groups table shows the following fields for each fee group that you create:
- ID - the unique ID of the fee group, assigned by ChannelEngine.
- Fee group - the name of the fee group, assigned by ChannelEngine. If the name is not provided by the marketplace, ChannelEngine comes up with its own name for the group.
- Threshold - the price range to which the fee group applies.
- Percentage fee - the percentage that applies to this fee group. E.g.: 8%.
- Fixed fee - the amount that applies to this fee group. E.g.: 10 EUR.
- Actions - edit or delete the fee group.
Add a custom fee group
For marketplaces that do not provide their commission percentages, you can create custom fee groups manually.
- Click Custom fee groups, and add a custom fee group.
- Choose a name that best describes your fee group. E.g.: Basics and intimates.
- Set the price threshold for which the custom fee applies.
- Specify the Percentage fee, and if applicable, the Fixed fee.
- To specify a different fee for a product with a higher price point, click +Add bracket to add a fee.
- Set the price thresholds for which the custom fee applies.
- Click Add.
Progressive brackets
If you pay different commission percentages for various portions of the price, use progressive brackets. E.g.: you pay 10% for the portion of the price below 100 EUR, and 5% for the portion of the price above 100 EUR.
- Select +Add bracket.
- Set up the thresholds that define which commission percentage should be applied to different portions of the price.
- Toggle the Progressive brackets switch.
Example
First bracket:
- Threshold, upper boundary - €100.00.
- Percentage fee - 15%.
- This means 15% commission is charged on the portion of the price up to €100.00.
Second bracket:
- Threshold, lower boundary - automatically updated to €100.00.
- Upper boundary - left empty (for amounts above €100.00).
- Percentage fee - 8%
- This means 8% commission is charged on the portion of the price greater than €100.00.
Marketplace fee groups
On the Amazon and bol channels, view the fee groups at Pricing, Marketplace fees, [Channel name] fee groups. If the [Channel name] fee groups section is empty, ask your contact person at ChannelEngine to run the Import commission fees from channel task.
Include fees in the selling price
After configuring marketplace fees, you can include them in the product's price by using price rules. For guidance on setting up price rules, check out ChannelEngine: price rules v2.
