Marketplace-specific requirements and exceptions
Setup
On CDON
Once the seller account has been activated, you can find the API key on the CDON Connect portal –. this is needed for you to go through the next steps. Once the setup is completed successfully and the channel is activated, CDON automatically starts exporting product data (i.e.: no manual push or action is required of you or of ChannelEngine).
On ChannelEngine
- Go to your CDON channel on ChannelEngine.
- Once in your dashboard, select Setup.
- Add the CDON API key to the correct field.
- Select the countries you would like to activate with this connection (e.g.: Denmark, Norway, and Sweden).
- Select how you would like to handle shipment costs.
Migration
It is only possible to connect with existing offers on CDON using a completely empty environment. ChannelEngine uses a combination of the prefix CE_ and the product's unique ID on ChannelEngine as the unique identifier on CDON. E.g.: CE_1493. Once the export is done and the related data is synchronized on CDON's end, the updated offers should be visible.
Categorization
Categorization is mandatory on CDON, as connecting only to offers is not possible. CDON requires the categorization of the products and the additional required mappings after this step. Please note that categorization and mappings will only result in updates if the requirements are met, and the setup was completed successfully. CDON uses the English category tree that you can use to map your categories with. It is important to choose the most appropriate category that matches your category, so both CDON and consumers know exactly what products you are selling.
Mappings
Content
To create new content or update existing content, you must map the required attributes. These consist of three fixed attributes under All products, which means they are shared across all product types.
Description default - the product description for your product. This field accepts limited HTML input, mostly basic tags such as br, p, and lists (both ol and ul). Attributes such as div id="" or img src="" are not supported.
Main image URL - the main image for your product.
Title default - the name/title of your product.
The maximum values for each attribute are:
- Description - 10,000 characters
- Title - 150 characters
- Product ID - 40 characters
- Unique selling proposition (USP) - 50 characters
- Brand - 70 characters
- Maximum file size of the product import - 28.6 MB
The are also some attributes under the optional mappings, that, contrary to the section where they are listed, are actually required. These are:
- GTIN (EAN)
- SKU (merchant product number)
- Additional images
- Color
- Size
- Brand
Product hierarchy
CDON requires a parent-child product hierarchy, which is also manageable by them. If the product has variations, the parent product is called the model product on CDON.
CDON supports the following variation combinations:
- Size
- Color
- Flavor
- Size and color
- Size and flavor
In order to map parent/single products, the following are required:
- Title default
- Description default
- Main image
In order to map child products, the following are required:
- Variant by color - when used, you to need to map the color
- Variant by flavor - when used, you to need to map the flavor
- Variant by size - when used, you to need to map the size
- Variant by size and color - when used, you to need to map the size and the color
- Variant by size and flavor - when used, you to need to map the size and the flavor
For more information on CDON's attributes, check out Help Center Categories, Attributes & Navigation.
Offers
Similar to the content mappings, the offer mappings also have some requirements and hidden requirements. These hidden requirements are explained below.
There are automatic checks done by ChannelEngine to verify if certain standard requirements are met. When the export is completed, CDON provides you with feedback. This includes the optional fields under All products mappings: GTIN, shipping costs, VAT, sale price, and original price. All of those should be applied to the specific countries where you want to sell.
Also make sure to map GTIN (EAN) and SKU (your merchant product number). Under Offer mappings, make sure to map the Global product status and Product status Sweden fields to online/offline.
Carrier
Carrier mapping is required on CDON. You can map your carrier to a specific list of carriers that CDON knows (this will allow for working track-and-trace links in the CDON back-end). Go to Mappings > Carrier mapping, select the correct shipping method you use, and map it to the right value in the list provided by CDON.
Pricing
CDON offers several countries with the connection, all with different currencies. These need to be mapped to the converted values in the Offer mappings. If you do not have the specific prices per country as separate attributes, you can use the ChannelEngine price rules to convert your prices to specific outputs. In the example below, you can see how to set up a currency conversion from EUR to SEK. As CDON works with specific currencies as separate attributes in the offer mappings, you will need to create a custom output per currency. You could name the output SEK currency, for example.
After doing this, you can go to Offer mappings and map the correct output to the price field. There you can also find two attributes per country regarding shipping times. They are called Delivery time [country name] min. and Delivery time [country name] max. Here you must provide the minimum and maximum values in days. E.g.: if your shipping time within Sweden is 1-2 days, you must set Delivery time Sweden min. to 1 and Delivery time Sweden max. to 2.
Listed products
The final step of the process is to monitor the statuses of your products. This can be done in the section Listed products. You can also check what was exported by ChannelEngine and what was the response from the channel.
Additional information
Order extra data items
When an order is imported to ChannelEngine, ChannelEngine also fetches extra data items related to the order itself – or to order lines. This extra data is specific to this marketplace. An explanation of each can be found below:

FAQs
Is it possible to delete products from CDON?
No, it is not possible to delete products created on CDON. However, if you set the stock of a product for which there is no longer availability to zero, the product is displayed as unavailable on CDON.
Why is my discounted price not correct on CDON?
One of the most common causes of incorrect discounted prices is the input of a higher value in the Sale price [country] attribute than in the default Price attribute. If the value mapped to the product's Price attribute is higher than the value in the product's Sale price [country] attribute, check CDON's feedback on the Listed products page to see what else could be causing the issue.
