Amazon: why is the order billing address on ChannelEngine different from the billing address on Amazon?
About this article
This article explains why billing address information for orders may differ between ChannelEngine and Amazon Seller Central.
Why is the order billing address different from the one on Amazon?
When comparing a given order on Amazon Seller Central and ChannelEngine, you may notice that the billing (a.k.a. invoice) addresses are different. This is because Amazon only supplies the shipping address on orders via its Orders API.
On ChannelEngine, leaving the billing address empty on an order could result in errors. Therefore, the shipping address is used as the billing address on Amazon orders.
Why is the billing address not retrieved via Amazon's Reports API?
It is possible to retrieve billing address information via the Amazon Reports API. However, the billing address is not available via the Reports API until after the order is shipped. If knowing the billing address before shipment is essential to your operations, then consider the invoicing feature within Amazon's VAT Calculation Suite (VCS).
