ChannelEngine: why does my order have a no-email@channelengine.com email address?
About this article
This article describes the different approaches marketplaces take to detailing buyers' email addresses on orders.
Solution
When you receive an order from a marketplace, an email address is always included. Depending on the marketplace and what kind of information it shares, there are three main possibilities:
-
Non-obfuscated email - some marketplaces share the actual email address of the buyer, in case you need to contact them directly. These marketplaces include eBay, Blokker, Miinto, and others.
-
Obfuscated email - other marketplaces (e.g.: bol, Amazon, Allegro) do not share buyers' email addresses, but do offer the option to contact the buyer if needed. This is to prevent spam and ensures that buyer information is kept private. On such channels, email addresses appear as shown in the example below:
A different approach to obfuscation is used by V&D, which attaches its own email address to orders. Contact V&D, so they can contact the buyer on your behalf.
- no-email@channelengine.com - certain marketplaces (e.g.: Fnac, Wayfair) do not share an email address of any kind. As this is a mandatory field on ChannelEngine's API, no-email@channelengine.com is added automatically in the buyer's email field. This email address cannot be used to contact the buyer, but alternative contact options are often available in the marketplace's back-end.
