Introduction

Error 8032 is an invalid variation relationship error. It occurs when the child SKU in a variation relationship already has another SKU stored as its parent. Amazon's catalog system does not allow a child SKU to be assigned to more than one parent SKU at the same time. Until the existing relationship is removed, no new relationship can be submitted for that child SKU.

Cause

This error is triggered when you attempt to associate a child SKU with a new parent SKU while it is already linked to a different parent SKU in Amazon's catalog. Common causes include:

• The child SKU was previously assigned to a parent SKU and the old relationship was not deleted before submitting a new one.
• The inventory file contains a duplicate or conflicting parent-child assignment for the same child SKU.
• An incorrect SKU value has been entered as the parent SKU.

Resolution

To resolve error 8032, you must delete the existing parent-child relationship before submitting the new one. You can do this by deleting either the parent SKU or the child SKU:

• Deleting the parent SKU: this removes the relationship between that parent and all its children.
• Deleting the child SKU: this removes the relationship between only that child SKU and its current parent, leaving any sibling variations unaffected.

Once the original relationship has been removed, you can reassign the child SKU to the new parent SKU and resubmit products.
