Amazon: common errors
About this article
This article describes some of Amazon's most common errors, how to solve them, and where to find more information about them.
Table of contents
Error 8005
This error occurs when you attempt to change an identity attribute for the affected SKU. It means that the product data you have submitted has changed, and your product is going to be associated with a different product in the Amazon catalog (based on its ASIN) if this data is processed.
Follow the following procedure to address this issue:
- Apply an update to the product via the Categorization page or Content mappings tab on ChannelEngine.
- Go to Mappings, Content mappings, All products, and, under the Update type, create an override for the product. Then, set this attribute to Clear and overwrite.
- Go to the product selection that contains your product.
- Click the Edit listing button.
- To temporarily remove the Merchant product number, add the filter “IF Merchant product number not equal to [insert the affected Merchant product number here]”. You can do this using any other identifier unique to the product you’re working with.
- Wait 24 hours before relisting the affected SKU.
- To relist the product, remove the filter excluding your product’s Merchant product number.
Note that Amazon may not process your data contribution immediately. If no change is made after several hours, reach out to Amazon's support.
More information on this can be found on Amazon's Seller Central.
Error 8032
This error occurs when the child in the variation relationship already has another SKU stored as its parent. To solve this, delete the existing relationship and submit a new one.
More information on this can be found on Amazon's Seller Central.
Error 8057
This error occurs when the Condition type value you submitted for the affected SKU differs from the existing Condition type value in the Amazon catalog. You cannot change the Condition type associated with a product while offers for that product are active on Amazon.
You must first remove any existing offers before you can update the Condition type value.
To solve this using tab-delimited inventory files, do the following:
- On ChannelEngine, remove the product from the product selection. Wait until the offer is deleted from Seller Central (ideally, wait 24 hours before you continue with the next step).
- Add the product to the product selection again. The offer with the correct condition is now added.
More information on this can be found on Amazon's Seller Central.
Error 8058
This error occurs when you provide an invalid value for the specified field name in your inventory file template. To solve this, resubmit your product data with a valid value in the specified field.
E.g.: the seller provides a weight, but fails to provide a value for the item_weight_unit_of_measure field.
More information on this can be found on Amazon's Seller Central.
Error 8105
This error occurs when you provide data for an attribute that does not match the list of valid values. To solve this, select a valid value from the data definitions and resubmit.
Error 8115
This error occurs when you submit an invalid Condition type value in your inventory file or product data feed. To resolve this error, resubmit your product data with a valid Condition type value.
Valid values for Condition type include:
- New
- Refurbished
- UsedLikeNew
- UsedVeryGood
- UsedGood
- UsedAcceptable
- CollectibleLikeNew
- CollectibleVeryGood
- CollectibleGood
- CollectibleAcceptable
Error 8541
Also known as single matching error, it occurs when your unique identifier (e.g.: EAN, ISBN, UPC, etc.) corresponds to the identifier of an existing ASIN. I.e.: some of the content submitted contradicts the existing content (e.g.: title, brand, color, size, etc.) tied to that particular ASIN. This product information may belong to a brand owner, for instance.
To solve this, you can either ensure your own content matches the existing content exactly or ask your customer success manager or a member of the Support team to disable the Enable new content export setting. Both approaches lead to the creation of an offer matching the existing content, rather than a new product on Amazon.
Error 8560
Error 8560 is related to issues with your product ID, which is pushed to Amazon along with the stock and price as part of the offer export. To troubleshoot this error, go through the steps below:
Invalid values in the inventory template
- Check if your product ID is correct.
- Check the character requirements. E.g.: 12 digits for UPCs, 13 digits for EANs, and 10 digits for ISBNs.
- Validate your product ID from the authorized GS1 website.
- If you have applied for UPC exemption, use the same brand name for the specific feed product type in which exemption has been given. Update your data and resubmit.
Missing required fields in the inventory template
- Check if all required fields are complete.
- Use the correct inventory file template for your product category.
- Make sure that the category (feed_product_type) field is correct and corresponds to the brand name for which exemption has been granted.
- The external product ID and external product ID type need to be filled in if you have products codes such as UPC, EAN, and ISBN. If you have approval for UPC exemptions, leave the boxes empty.
- If your products do not have a UPC or barcodes, you can apply for GTIN exemption. Wait for 2-3 hours after receiving the exemption before starting with the listings. Update your data and resubmit.
The product ID does not match any ASINs
- Check if your product ID is correct.
- Check the character requirements. E.g.: 12 digits for UPCs, 13 digits for EANs, and 10 digits for ISBNs.
- Check for conformity with industry standards, using an online resource such as a UPC validation tool.
- If you need to fix an incorrect product ID, update your data and resubmit.
- If your product ID is new to the Amazon catalogue, a new ASIN must be created. Make sure that the product has been categorized accordingly, under the Categorization section, and that all required content attributes have been mapped correctly.

Error 8566
This error occurs when you have yet to establish a solid sales history with Amazon, one of your SKUs does not match any ASIN, and the product data provided is not eligible for ASIN creation. As you increase your sales, your capacity to create new ASINs increases too.
If you are an established seller and have created a high number of new ASINs, Amazon may also temporarily remove your ability to create new ASINs. This is evaluated on a monthly basis.
Error 8571
Amazon has temporarily removed your ability to submit listings (i.e.: creating new offers or new ASINs) because an unusually high number of listings have been created from your account.
Amazon has an undisclosed limit for new products for relatively new merchants. This limit is reset every Sunday.
