Create a shipment with a configured shipment method
Introduction
Shipment methods is a setting that enables you to configure a dynamic track-and-trace link for your chosen carrier and define the expected shipping time for the given carrier. Create a dynamic syntax comprised of replacement tags for your track-and-trace link.
The following replacement tags are available:
- {TrackTraceNo}
- {ZipCode}
- {CountryCode}
- {LangCode}
For example, if you use DHL as your carrier, you can send DHL's German link to German customers and DHL's Dutch link to Dutch customers.
Setup
To create a shipment method:
- Go to Settings, Shipment methods.
- To enter a shipping method, click Add.
- In the pop-up, enter a meaningful name for your shipping method in Name. As a best practice, the name should correspond to the name of the marketplace. E.g.: on Miravia, the shipping method is ‘Miravia’.
- If the given marketplace requires a tracking code, then enter the syntax of your tracking code, in combination with replacement tags, in Tracking code link.
- E.g.: 'https://mijnpakket.postnl.nl/Claim?Barcode={TrackTraceNo}&Postalcode={ZipCode}'.
- The maximum length for the final tracking URL that you export to the marketplace is 250 characters. This is a ChannelEngine-side validation limit, rather than a marketplace-specific limit.
- Enter the Expected shipping time in days (optional).
- Click Add.
Once you add a shipment method, you can only edit its name. To change the Track-and-trace link, Expected shipping time, or Track-and-trace required fields, click the trash can icon to delete the shipping method and create a new shipping method from scratch.
Create a shipment with a configured shipment method
Once you add your shipment methods, you can use them to create shipments.
Via the web interface, enter the shipment method using the name that you defined in Settings, Shipment methods.
Similarly, use your shipment method name in the Method field when creating a shipment via the Merchant API.
