Introduction

To create product variations on OTTO Market, child products need to all refer to the same Product reference code. If no Product reference code is provided, then your child products can all point to the same SKU value. 

On existing listings, you may need to change the value that you have mapped to your Product reference or SKU. You might do this as part of your maintenance of product variations, e.g.: to improve the grouping of child products together.

Grouping child products

On OTTO Market, you primarily use the Product reference attribute to group (grand)child products together. Long-time sellers on OTTO Market may use the SKU attribute for this grouping. Both of these attributes are mappable in Mappings, Content mappings.

By default, Product reference is available for mapping. SKU is available for mapping upon request. 

Note that you can only use each Product reference once within your product catalog, so make sure to use a value that makes sense for all variations of the product – and does not refer to any specifics of a variation.

Modify the Product reference or SKU

Over time, you may find that you need to modify your Product reference or SKU. In most cases, you can do this without the help of the ChannelEngine Support team. 

Follow the steps below:

1. In your OTTO Market plugin, go to the Mappings, Offer mappings. Map Is active to No.
2. From ChannelEngine's side menu, go to Settings, Scheduled tasks. Review when the next Export product offers to channel task runs, and wait until this task finishes running.
3. Review when the next Import product offers to channel task runs after the previous task finishes running. Wait until this task finishes running.
4. Back in your OTTO Market plugin, go to Mappings, Content mappings. Make the necessary changes to the SKU and/or Product reference.
5. Go to Mappings, Offer mappings. Map Is active back to Yes.
6. Go back to Settings, Scheduled tasks, and wait until the next Export product offers to channel task runs.
7. Wait until the next Import product offers to channel task runs, after the previous task is finished running.

Taking these steps ensures that your Product reference and SKU values are properly updated.
