ChannelEngine: product overview
About this article
This article describes the functionality of the Products page on ChannelEngine.
Table of contents
Introduction
After you have completed importing your product feed into ChannelEngine, your products appear in a comprehensive overview within the platform, called the product overview. Use the product overview to:
- Create smaller overviews of your product catalogue in sub-tabs
- View which products are active and inactive
- Freeze products based on filters
Product tiles
Access your product overview by going to Products, Products from the sidebar menu on ChannelEngine. The default view shows your entire product repository as a collection of product tiles. Each tile contains one product and its attributes.
A product tile displays basic attributes of the product:
- Catalog price - otherwise known as the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP), this field is not mandatory. However, the catalog price can be very useful if you want to use from-for prices on channels that support from-for pricing.
- Price - your basic selling price, which you use when the product is sold directly on your webstore. This should include your own profit margin, but does not necessarily have to include the channel's commission or your own fees.
- Merchant product number - this is the item's unique number that you (the merchant) assign to the item. It is typically the stock-keeping unit (SKU). The merchant product number is the attribute that makes your products unique on ChannelEngine and your offers unique on most marketplaces. Therefore, this is the product's most important attribute – even more important than the global trade item number (GTIN), product title, etc.
- Overall stock - the available stock quantity. This is the stock received from your system minus any stock reservations.
- If you have provided at least one image with a given product, then an image appears within the product's tile.
At the bottom of each tile, click + Select to mark the given product for a freeze. See the Freeze products section below for more details on freezing products on ChannelEngine.
Product sub-tabs
Create smaller families of your products in a single view by creating one or more product sub-tabs.
In the top left of the product overview page, click Filters to open the side drawer.
Click on the pin icon to pin the side drawer to the side of the product overview page. Click on the x to close the side drawer.
To create a new tab in the product overview:
- Define the rules to include or exclude products from the filter results.
- Click Save selection.
- The Save selection pop-up will appear.
- Enter a descriptive name of your filter results, e.g.: 'Apparel', in the Name field.
- To make the new product sub-tab appear in the product overview for all users in your tenant, turn on the Visible for other users toggle.
- Click Save.
- The new sub-tab appears on your product overview page.
- To delete the sub-tab, click on the three-dot menu icon next to the sub-tab's name.
In the new tab, choose to freeze all products (either by individually selecting items or via Select all). Click Export to export the entire subset of products in CSV format.
Additional search and filters
Use the search bar at the top of the product overview page to search through your product repository using any values from their relevant attributes.
Additional filters are available when clicking on Additional filters:
- Frozen products - refine the view to only those products that you have frozen.
- Inactive products - refine the view to inactive products, and therefore not exported to your connected channels.
Freeze products
In the upper right of the product overview page or in the product sub-tabs, choose to freeze all products (either by individually selecting items or via Select all). For more guidance on freezing products, check out ChannelEngine: freeze products.
