bol: fee reductions v2
About this article
This article describes how to participate in bol's fee reductions v2 and view the current fee reductions for your products on ChannelEngine.
Table of contents
Introduction
bol offers fee reductions on products that are priced below a certain threshold. If you participate in a fee reduction, you must sell the product at a lower price, but you benefit from a reduced commission fee.
If the fee reduction is greater than the difference between your current price and bol’s threshold, this can be a good way to increase sales and profit margins on certain products.
The list of products eligible for fee reduction and their price thresholds change periodically. You can view the current fee reductions for your products on the Fee reductions tab.
Prerequisites
Pricing v2 is required to use this feature. Pricing v1 will be deprecated soon. If you currently use pricing v1, activate pricing v2 before you continue:
- In the Pricing step of a given channel, click Configuration mode to start configuring pricing v2 while pricing v1 stays active.
- When you are ready to fully switch to pricing v2, reach out to the Support team to activate pricing v2 on the respective channel(s).
Setup
To participate in bol's fee reductions:
- On ChannelEngine, go to Offer mappings.
- Find the Automatically participate in fee reductions attribute.
- Set the attribute to either ‘true’ or ‘false’.
- True - ChannelEngine lowers your price to bol’s maximum price – if the latter is still higher than your Min. price. It also updates the product’s fee group and applies the lower fee in the price rule, if that is set up.
- False - ChannelEngine only participates in the fee reduction if your price is already equal to or lower than bol’s maximum price. It does not lower your price to match bol’s maximum price.
Overview
To view fee reductions on ChannelEngine, go to Pricing, Fee reductions. The fee reductions overview has several columns:
- Image - a preview of the main product image.
- Merchant product number - your unique product SKU on ChannelEngine.
- EAN - the GTIN of the product.
- Name - the name of the product.
- Fee reduction max. price - the maximum price eligible for fee reduction, which is set by bol. If your exported price is lower or equal to this maximum price, the fee reduction is applied. If it is higher, bol applies its regular commission on the sale of the product.
- Price - min. price - the minimum price of the product. Among all of your minimum prices (Min. bound, Min. price, Min. commercial price) set on the Price rules page, the highest value is considered your final minimum price.
- Price - exported price - the price of the product that is actually exported to bol.
- Price LVB - min. price - the minimum Logistiek via bol (LVB) price of the product. Among all of your minimum prices (Min. bound, Min. price, Min. commercial price) set on the Price rules page, the highest value is considered your final minimum price.
- Price LVB - exported price - the LVB price of the product that is actually exported to bol.
- Fee reduction - the fee reduction bol offers when dropping to the Fee reduction Max. price.
- Begin date - the date when the reduction becomes active on bol. Fee reductions usually run for three to four weeks.
- End date - the date until when the reduction is available on bol. After this date, the regular fee applies, and any fee reduction override is disabled automatically.
- Actions - shows the details of a product when you select the 'eye' icon.
Filter options
By default, the fee reduction overview is sorted based on the ChannelEngine product ID, in descending order. However, there are multiple sorting options available which can be selected at the top of the page:
- Product new-old - based on the ChannelEngine product ID, from highest to lowest.
- Begin date high-low - based on the begin date of the reduction, from newest to oldest.
- Begin date low-high - based on the begin date of the reduction, from oldest to newest.
- End date high-low - based on the end date of the reduction, from newest to oldest.
- End date low-high - based on the end date of the reduction, from oldest to newest.
- Margin % high-low - the percentage difference between the purchase price and the regular selling price, from highest to lowest.
- Margin high-low - the absolute difference between the purchase price and the regular selling price, from highest to lowest.
- Price difference low-high - the difference between the current price and the maximum bol's price, from lowest to highest.
- Reduction high-low - the reduction based on the fee value that bol waives, from highest to lowest.
You can also filter the products with possible fee reductions by the following:
- Active - only show products with an active fee reduction.
- Max. price lower - hide all products for which you already have a lower price, and are benefitting from fee reduction.
- Not active - show products without an active fee reduction override.
You can also search for a specific product or group of products by entering the Merchant product number or GTIN in the search field.
Once a fee reduction is active, the price of the product is updated on bol, usually within 15 minutes. When this new price is active, all new sales of the product have the fee reduction applied – until the reduction period is over, and the regular selling price (with whatever price rules/repricing options, if any) is exported again.
Export fee reductions
To check if your fee reductions are correct or if any products still need attention, you can export your current fee reductions via email. On the Fee reductions tab, click Export to CSV, Send to email. ChannelEngine sends a CSV file with the current fee reductions to your login email address. To download the CSV file, click download link in the email. The CSV file contains the same fields you can find in the fee reductions overview.
FAQs
What happens if both fee reduction and repricing are used simultaneously?
When both fee reduction and repricing are applied together, the maximum price eligible for the fee reduction acts as an upper boundary for repricing (Max. price). Repricing functions normally but does not exceed this threshold.
