ChannelEngine: shipment methods
About this article
This article describes ChannelEngine's shipment methods tool, and how to configure it.
Introduction
ChannelEngine's shipment methods tool is a simple feature that provides you with more control over the carrier information you use. Via it, you can configure the default track-and-trace default link and expected shipping time – as well as the need for a track-and-trace code.
Configure shipment methods
To configure a shipment method:
- Log into ChannelEngine and go to Settings, Shipment methods. For existing shipment methods, you can only edit the name. To change the Track-and-trace link, Expected shipping time, or Track-and-trace required fields, click the trash can icon to delete it and create a new method.
- Click Add and in the Add: Shipment method dialog box, enter:
- Name
- Track-and-trace link - this field accepts the {TrackTraceNo}*, {ZipCode}**, {CountryCode}**, and {LangCode}** replacement tags. E.g.: the German DPD track-and-trace link is formatted in the following way:
https://tracking.dpd.de/cgi-bin/delistrack?pknr={TrackTraceNo}&typ=32&lang={LangCode}
.
* This data is provided by the merchant.
** This data is sourced from the order.
- Expected shipping time - the expected shipping time in days.
- Track & trace requirement - optionally, select the Track & trace requirement checkbox.
Once your preferred shipment methods are added, you can select them when handling orders on ChannelEngine. This way you can send DHL's German link to German customers and DHL's Dutch link to Dutch customers, for instance.NB: pre-configured shipment methods can also be used via the API. If the track-and-trace code is required, but not provided, ChannelEngine creates the shipment and only exports it when the track-and-trace code is added.
