ChannelEngine: error '401 Unauthorized'
About this article
This documents describes error 401 Unauthorized
, what causes it, and how to troubleshoot it.
Introduction
If you receive a 401 Unauthorized
error when you activate a channel or plugin, it means that the current credentials do not allow for successful API calls to the channel or plugin.
ChannelEngine automatically disables most plugins if 401 errors are received. This is done to prevent a high number of failing API calls regarding errors that ChannelEngine cannot correct. If your plugin is automatically disabled, you receive a notification in your account.
Troubleshooting
To resolve the 401 error:
- On ChannelEngine, go to the channel and on the Setup tab, double-check the credentials or OAuth authorization. If they are incorrect, re-authorizing ChannelEngine should resolve the issue. If you have multiple accounts for that marketplace, make sure to authorize the right account.
- If you are certain that the credentials are set correctly on ChannelEngine, contact the channel. Your credentials may have been revoked, an account setting may be invalid (marketplaces are known to revoke access based on incorrect/invalid payment details), the access tokens may have changed, etc..
