Enable dropped products notifications
Introduction
ChannelEngine continuously monitors the percentage of your product offers on every connected channel with zero stock, i.e.: dropped products. Set a threshold on ChannelEngine to receive a notification once the percentage of offers containing dropped products on any one of your channels exceeds your threshold.
E.g.: you set your dropped products threshold to 30%. There are 20 products in the product selection of the channel. The stock value of 15 products in the product selection becomes zero. The dropped product ratio is 75%. ChannelEngine sends you a notification to take action on your zero-stock products.
Configuration and settings
If the percentage of offers on dropped products exceeds your set threshold on a marketplace, ChannelEngine will send you a notification. Optionally, you can choose to automatically block exporting offers on the dropped products to the affected channels.
Set the threshold
To set this threshold:
- Go to Settings, Settings, Advanced, Stock.
- In the Dropped products threshold field, enter a threshold as an integer percentage. If the percentage of offers with zero stock that are sent to the channel goes above the set threshold, ChannelEngine automatically sends you a notification.
Block offer exports (optional)
Optionally, automatically block exporting offers on dropped products to any affected channels.
- Go to the setting Block exports when the dropped products threshold is exceeded.
- Toggle the setting on.
- If the setting is turned on, then ChannelEngine blocks offer exports on dropped products to the affected channels once the dropped products threshold is exceeded.
- ChannelEngine does not notify the marketplace that the affected products have zero stock. Instead, the dropped products will continue to exist on the marketplace, with the last available stock levels and prices.
- Investigate why the products show zero stock. Then, take immediate action. Check out the section below on recommended actions.
Enable dropped products notifications
ChannelEngine always sends you a notification when the percentage of offers with zero stock goes above your dropped products threshold.
By default, notifications are not enabled on ChannelEngine. It is recommended that you enable this notification on ChannelEngine.
To enable the dropped products notifications:
- Go to Account settings, Notification settings, Stock
- Enable Dropped products threshold exceeded.
For more guidance on how to enable notifications, check out ChannelEngine: how to configure notifications.
Example: dropped products notification
If your dropped products threshold is 50%, and ChannelEngine discovers that your percentage of dropped products is 60%, you will receive the following notification message:
“The number of products to be dropped in a single export to the marketplace exceeds the threshold you configured. Your threshold is: 50 percent. Double-check the stock values of your products and whether setting the stock to 0 for more than 60 percent of products was intentional.”
Example: notification with automatically blocked exports
If the Block exports when the dropped products threshold is exceeded setting is turned on, the following sentence is added to the end of the notification:
“The offer export will fail, and none of your product quantity will be reduced to 0.”
Recommended actions
If you receive a dropped products notification, first investigate why the given products show zero stock on ChannelEngine.
Below are some recommended corrective actions:
- If your products' stock is not accurately imported into ChannelEngine, and it is more than zero, then update the stock levels of your dropped products in your stock management system.
-
If your products' stock is accurately imported into ChannelEngine as zero, then disable the Block exports when the dropped products threshold is exceeded setting.
